Create a Minecraft skin: free in your browser
With your own skin your Minecraft character looks the way you want. You can paint a new skin, adjust an existing one or put one together with a character builder. It is free and works in your browser.
What a Minecraft skin is
A skin is a PNG image of 64×64 pixels (older skins are 64×32). All body parts lie flat next to each other on the image, and Minecraft folds them into your character. There are two body shapes: Classic with 4-pixel-wide arms and Slim with 3-pixel-wide arms.
Create a skin with the Craftory skin editor
- Paint directly on the 3D model and rotate it as you go.
- Upload an existing PNG and adjust it.
- Load a player's skin by name (Java Edition).
- Put together skin tone, face, hair, clothes and jobs in the character builder and change every colour.
- Save skins to your account and share them by link or in the gallery.
Use your skin in Minecraft Java Edition
- Download the skin as a PNG.
- Open the "Skins" section in the Minecraft Launcher.
- Add a new skin, choose the file and set Classic or Slim.
- Save and start the game.
Alternatively, upload the skin to your profile on minecraft.net. Labels may differ slightly depending on the version.
Use your skin in Minecraft Bedrock Edition
Open the character section (dressing room) in Minecraft, go to Classic Skins and import the PNG file there. Depending on the device, importing your own skins can be limited.
Painting tips
- Start with base colours, then add shadow and light in two or three steps per colour.
- The face is the most important area, so take your time with it.
- Use the outer layer for hair, jackets and hats. It looks three-dimensional because it sits slightly off the body.
